Thinking about a detox? ๐ ๐ฝโโ๏ธ๐ ๐ฝโโ๏ธ
Thinking about a detox to reset? I say
Just a few reminders and ideas to return to your regular lifestyle. Or a few things to focus on if you are beginning a healthier routine. ๐ค
Trying to starve yourself or begining some kind of โdetoxโ poses a higher risks of triggering binge eating episodes and can be harmful to your mental health (PMID: 29983105) ๐ซ Nothing will โresetโ or help clear out your system.
If you feel as if you have been consuming too much ๐ฎโ๐จ, the best way to readjust is to commit to meeting your energy requirements through out the day, eating foods that are high in fiber, and foods that are satiating. ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅช๐ฎ These type of foods will help you to feel full and nourished throughout the day๐๐ฝ.
Weight fluctuations are NORMAL. Even more so if we have spent the week eating and drinking more than we normally do๐. Your weight should return to normal as you resume your regular routine. Focus more on how you feel. Remember, weight is only a measurement.
Sleep is extremely important๐ด. When we feel tired we tend to comsume more to make ourselves feel better. These comfort foods are usually high in calories and non-satiating. Which leads to missing our energy requirements for the day. Quality sleep is even associated with a lower risk of obesity (PMID: 31089536).
Get back to your physical activity routine๐ด๐ฝโโ๏ธ. You donโt have to go crazy your first day. At least find 30 minutes of movement to get your heart rate going๐คธ๐ฝโโ๏ธ.
Hydration is always important๐ฅค. Try to focus on hydration that wonโt add to your energy intake for the day. Energy drinks, sodas, and juices are sometimes items that people overlook and donโt realize are actually high calorie items.
And finally, donate excess items๐ and return to your regular routine. Itโs going to take a few days to feel like your normal self again. If we are not successful today, there is always a new opportunity tomorrow๐.
