Don’t forget to donate

With every holiday season, we buy in excess to make sure we are good hosts and guests.

When our parties and gatherings are over, take inventory of your extra items and left overs. Many shelters, food banks, and food pantries are always in need of donations.

A quick online check of their accepted items will inform you of what they are legally able to accept and redistribute.

Many assistance centers are unable to take open items. If you have an excess amount of prepared items, make plates for community members that may be needing assistance.

The elderly are especially vulnerable when it comes to food insecurity (PMID: 30050904) It might mean the world to someone to know they have a neighbor who is ensuring they are okay.

Leftovers may also be safely distributed to those who are unhoused. Or kindly left in an accessible area with a note of what the food items contain.

Cualli Nutrition would also gladly pick up any donations and deliver them to assistance centers if you are unable to travel to these centers during drop-off hours.
