Find a great support system

I’ll never forget watching someone ridicule their partner in the grocery store after they had placed carrots in their cart for “healthier snacks.” I saw the motivation leave their soul😔

In men and women, studies have shown that association with positive support groups and interacting with positive social media profiles/channels has a significant effect on the self-efficacy of the individual attempting the change/intervention (PMID: 32830625 PMID: 31540863).

Self-efficacy refers to an individual’s belief in their own ability to complete the task at hand. If the people around us are doubting our abilities, how could we believe in ourselves?

Changing habits is difficult 😰 Especially when it involves a new exercise regimen or changing our dietary habits. It’s uncomfortable enough without having the added judgement from the people around us.

When we see a friend or a loved one making positive changes, rather than making a light hearted joke, cheer them on 📣 Tell them you support them. Tell them you will help them. Even if they already know, we all need to hear this positive reinforcement👏🏽.

Just a reminder to keep positive people around you and to BE those positive people.
